All modes of transport in Turkmenistan showed positive growth dynamics in the first quarter.

In the first quarter of this year, the growth rate of work and services in Turkmenistan's transport and communication sector reached 118.4%. This was reported by the Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers  at a Cabinet meeting, writes TDH.  

According to the presented report, cargo transportation by road, rail, air, sea, and river transport increased by 4.3%, and passenger transportation increased by 1.4% compared to the same period last year.

The highest growth rates were demonstrated by the "Türkmenhowaýollary" agency with a result of 126.5% and the "Türkmendeňizderýaýollary" agency with 125.5%. The growth rate of services provided by the "Türkmenaragatnaşyk" agency amounted to 122%, "Türkmenawtoulaglary" – 110.4%, and "Türkmendemirýollary" – 107.1%.

During the meeting, information was also presented on the measures being taken within the framework of the implementation of the "Concept for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2019–2025".  

The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, having heard the report, emphasized the importance of further effective work on the development of the national transport and communication complex and the full utilization of the country's international transport and transit potential. The head of the Agency was given specific instructions on these areas.
