Within the framework of the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, which was signed on August 31, 2023, aimed at the further development of the country’s National Merchant Fleet, targeted measures are being taken to achieve the objectives that had been set.
In order to implement shipbuilding projects, active negotiations began between the «Balkan» shipbuilding and repairing yard, Korean Marine Equipment Association (KOMEA) and «Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co., Ltd.».
«КОМЕА» is an association that unites 286 Korean manufacturers of marine equipment. So, one of such companies is «Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co., Ltd.» (KSIT). The shipbuilding process will be carried out jointly with the «KSIT» company, in which highly qualified engineers in the field of shipbuilding and local personnel from the «Balkan» shipyard will take part.
Today, on September 13, 2023, a Contract was signed for the joint construction of two dry cargo ships with a carrying capacity of 6,100 tons between «Balkan» shipbuilding and repairing yard and «Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co., Ltd.». As a part of the signed contract, Korean engineers will train specialists from the «Balkan» shipyard in Korean shipbuilding technologies. Also, a quality management system will be introduced at the yard, design work will be carried out with a high level of accepted standards in shipbuilding for safety, environmental protection, until the completion of all related procedures.
This important step plays a key role in strengthening the maritime infrastructure of Turkmenistan and contributes to the development of trade and transport links of the country around the world.
