A meeting was held in "Turkmendenizderyayollary" agencywiththe representatives of the Indian Embassy in Turkmenistan

On September 19, 2023, a meeting was held between the representatives of the Indian Embassy in Turkmenistan with the heads of «Turkmendenizderyayollary» Agency.

During the meeting, the head of the Agency presented a detailed information about the activities and services provided by the agency and its subordinate enterprises. Particular attention was paid to the marine secondary vocational school located in Turkmenbashi city. The presentation covered the duration of training, long-term and short-term courses for future sailors.

Currently, only theoretical training is provided at the secondary vocational school in Turkmenbashi, however, due to the lack of necessary equipment, it is not possible to conduct practical classes. The Indian side has expressed its readiness to provide a Grant of $1 million for a maritime secondary vocational school. The grant will be used to supply the necessary equipment, including simulators for naval vessel control, which will allow students to conduct practical classes.

Offshore platforms used to extract oil from the seabed always require highly skilled personnel to ensure safe and efficient operation. These platforms actively use the services of foreign ship-providing companies that have received practical training and experience abroad. As a result of the new cooperation, students and young sailors have a unique opportunity to receive practical training at modern facilities without leaving our country. This step demonstrates its commitment to ensuring maritime safety and training in accordance with international standards, as well as the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW-78).

Turkmenistan, being a member of 13 international documents, actively cooperates with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), as well as with other organizations. This action underscores Turkmenistan's commitment to maritime safety, environmental protection and compliance with international standards, as well as its readiness to apply global experience in this area.

In addition, the Turkmen side proposed using the facilities of the Turkmenbashi International seaport to transport goods of Indian logistics companies in transit through the Turkmenbashi port along the North-South corridor.

Also, the Ambassador said that from October 17 to 19 of this year, an international event dedicated to maritime transport is planned to be held in Mumbai (India), and invited representatives of the Agency to take part in this event.
