Vice-President of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas will arrive in Ashgabat on January 17 during his Central Asian tour, according to the EC's website.
Schinas has already visited Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan on January 15-16, where he met with the country's leadership and ministers. An important topic of the talks was cooperation between the Central Asian countries and the European Union in the field of transport and logistics. In this context, in particular, the issues of the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor were discussed.
A major Investor Forum aimed at strengthening transport and communication connectivity between the two regions will be held in Brussels at the end of January. And the visit of the Vice-President of the European Commission to all five Central Asian countries "is evidence of the growing partnership between the EU and the region," Margaritis Schinas said.
