The general director of the Amirabad port, Mohammad Ali Musapour, said that in the first nine months of the Iranian calendar, cargo turnover at the Amirabad port in northern Iran amounted to more than three million tons.
Loading and unloading operations at the port during this period showed an increase of 47% compared to the corresponding period last year, Caspian Bulletin reports with reference to Mehr News.
With the infrastructure built to store grains, the port is expected to record a new record in loading and unloading goods by the end of the year (March 20, 2024), said Mohammad Ali Musapur.
According to him, today the port owns a 59% share in maritime trade on the Caspian Sea. Musapur noted that the import of goods at the port has increased significantly due to private sector investments in the construction of bunkers and covered storage facilities, as well as the position of the Amirabad port in the North-South International Transport Corridor.
As Iranian sources note, exports of products from Amirabad are expected to increase after the creation of a green customs line between the Iranian port and the port of Makhachkala.
