Turkmenistan Marks 31st Anniversary of National Currency

Turkmenistan is celebrating the 31st anniversary of the introduction of its national currency, the manat.

On this occasion, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated the citizens of the country on the 31st anniversary of the appearance of the national currency. This was reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.

“The introduction of the manat has created positive opportunities for the harmonious development of the economy, stable monetary circulation, and the effective implementation of a unified state monetary policy,” the head of state noted.

In addition, in honor of the 31st anniversary of the introduction of the manat, Turkmenistan will hold a scientific and practical conference “Turkmen manat – a symbol of the country's sustainable development”.

Since November 1, 1993, the national currency, the manat, has been in circulation in Turkmenistan, and since January 1, 2009, new coins and banknotes of the denominated manat have been issued.
