In 2026, Turkmenistan officially assumed the prestigious and highly responsible mission of chairmanship in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). This milestone reflects our country's growing diplomatic prestige on the international stage and the highly effective foreign policy strategy led by President Serdar Berdymukhamedov. Grounded in its status of permanent neutrality, Ashgabat serves as a reliable platform for fostering constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation across the region.
The priorities of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship focus on vital areas of regional integration. A key emphasis is placed on developing transport and logistics corridors, enhancing regional energy security, and expanding multilateral trade relations. Furthermore, Turkmenistan actively promotes joint initiatives aimed at addressing ecological concerns, accelerating digital transformation, and building resilient economic networks to face contemporary global challenges.
The cultural and humanitarian dimension remains a core pillar of this period. A diverse array of scientific, educational, and youth forums are scheduled to further strengthen the historical and cultural ties between the CIS nations. Ultimately, Turkmenistan’s chairmanship in 2026 is poised to enrich the multilateral partnership, contributing significantly to sustainable development, mutual trust, and long-term stability.
