The Ministry of Transport of Kyrgyzstan is studying the possibility of transit of trucks through the Caspian Sea

As part of a working trip to Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan Yrysbek Bariev met with the management of the Alyat sea trade port. During the meeting, the parties discussed the possibility of transporting trucks to Kyrgyzstan in transit through Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan on ferries from the Alyat port along the Caspian Sea, reports the information service of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan.

The administration of the Alyat port expressed interest in transporting trucks by ferry across the Caspian Sea, offering cargo carriers in Kyrgyzstan the conditions that the cost of delivering one truck from Alyat to the port of Turkmenbashi would be about $1,200, with a discount provided by prior agreement on both sides.

Truck-ferry transportation through the Alyat port is carried out by 15 ferry vessels and 3 Ro-Ro vessels. The timing of the route Alyat - Turkmenbashi is from 14 to 20 hours.
