Kazakhstan is interested in cooperation with Turkmenistan on environmental issues

Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan Erlan Nysanbayev, in his welcoming speech to the participants of the 14th meeting of the parties (COP 14) of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals, said that the republic expresses interest in continuing cooperation with Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in the field of ecology, as Kazinform news agency reports.

Mainly, the speech is about the conservation  of Red Book species of animals, including saiga, snow leopard and others. During the forum, issues of cross-border cooperation in this area were also touched upon by Vice-Minister Nurken Sharbiev, who participated in a plenary session to discuss the free migration of wild mammals and protected areas.

The meeting of the parties is taking place in Samarkand (Uzbekistan) and will last until February 17. It is attended by 1.7 thousand delegates from countries participating in the convention, known as Bonn, as well as representatives of international organizations.
