PJSC «Astrakhan Port» became the founder of the new shipping company «Astraport Shipping». It is noted that the corresponding decision was made by the Iranian shareholders of the enterprise with the aim of developing shipping in the Caspian Sea.

In an interview with the TASS agency, the governor of the Astrakhan region, Igor Babushkin, said that the Iranian shipping company IRISL is investing significant funds in the development of Astrakhan Port PJSC, a controlling stake in which belongs to Iranian business.

In order to develop shipping, the Iranian founders decided to create the shipping company «Astraport Shipping», said the governor of the Astrakhan region.

PJSC «Astrakhan Port» signed a contract with the «Lotos» shipyard for the completion of a dry cargo vessel of the RSD 49 project for an amount of more than 1 billion rubles. Completion of its construction is planned for March 2024.

The head of the region also noted that investors plan to purchase two more ships, and Iranian investments in the development of the Astrakhan port exceeded 600 million rubles. The partners’ plans include the construction of grain and oil terminals.
