The second day of the “Iranian Maritime Economy” forum began with a discussion “The Role of the Government in Facilitating Trade and Transit Development”, which was attended by Trade Development Organization Foreign Affairs Advisor Mirhadi Seyedi, Trade Development Organization Director General for Support and Preparation Seyed Ali Emami, Advisor to the Minister of Urban Development and Road Construction on Infrastructure Issues, as well as other leading experts in the field of transport.
The key event of the day was an exhibition dedicated to the maritime transport industry. At the exhibition, the Turkmen side held negotiations with the General Director of «India Ports Global Chabahar Free Zone» company, Jiledar Singh.
During the negotiations, it was noted that Turkmenistan acts as a Euro-Asian bridge in the West-East corridor and has many opportunities for developing international trade in the North-South corridor. An example of this is the role of the vessels of the national merchant fleet of Turkmenistan in this corridor, which transport goods in transit through the Turkmenbashi international seaport. It should also be noted that the Turkmenbashi International Seaport provides 50% benefits to port operations for transit cargo. This in turn leads to lower transport costs.
The Turkmen side shared that one of the priorities of participating in the forum is to achieve new heights in maritime transport relations between Iran and Turkmenistan, strengthening bilateral cooperation, exchanging experience and strengthening friendly relations between the countries.
